SBCC online courses offer an excellent opportunity for busy students to pursue their educational goals at times and locations convenient to them. Our courses are offered using the Internet and interaction between the students and faculty occurs using a virtual classroom.

Courses will generally be similar in content to the in-class mode, although more individual effort and initiative will be required to successfully master the material. Most online courses do not require on campus attendance. However, some courses will require on campus attendance for orientations, review sessions, and exams.

Online courses are rigorous and require a clear commitment to learning. To succeed in such an environment you need to be an independent learner, well organized, disciplined, and constantly on task.

Online Student Requirements:

• Students must be computer literate, and familiar with internet tools and protocols.
• Must have a computer with a system profile that meets or exceeds requirements listed on the Technical Requirements page at the time of enrollment.
• Must have Internet access and an established email account.
• Students must commence online contact with the course site within the first three days of the term.
• Students must understand that student participation and class activities occur weekly throughout the course.
